1939 Standard Flying the Flag

1939 Flyer in London Brighton Classic Run A rare 1939 Standard Flying Eight Tourer driven by Darrell Cunningham has entered the 24th London to Brighton Classic Car Run on June 10th 2012. Starting around 10 am from Brooklands Museum Brooklands Road, Weybridge,SurreyKT130QN http://www.brooklandsmuseum.com/ and motoring through the Beautiful English Countryside of Surrey and West Sussex arriving some time later at Madeira Drive Brighton for a Fish & Chips Lunch. Not only will STAN as the little car is known be flagged off with a Union Flag under CONCORDE but also will be one of the few cars to feature a union flag on the grill head. In this Her Majesties Golden Coronation year Darrell & Stan on behalf of the Standard Motor Club www.standardmotorclub.org will proudly fly the Flag. The car features in a series of books called The Adventures of Stan written by Darrell for Children. www.theadventuresofstan.co.uk Topper the scarecrow even reads stories to children every Wednesday at 4.30 on Spitfire FM seated with his friend Charlie Crow in STAN. www.topperthesarecrow.co.uk In all Darrell will drive some 200 miles round trip from his home in Hampshire that day. During the drive Darrell will attempt to record the journey on video which will then be placed on You Tube.
